MISSION STATEMENT

It is the mission of the San Luis Obispo County Law Library to provide current legal materials that meet the legal research and information needs of Law Library users in San Luis Obispo County. We serve all members of the community and county government.

PLEASE NOTE: Law Library staff may assist users in locating materials but may not interpret legal materials, give advice on how a law may apply to a situation, or assist in filling out legal forms. The Law Library does not guarantee that the information in the linked pages is correct.

ABOUT US

California county libraries, established by an act of legislation, have been providing free access to legal resources to all persons for over one hundred years. County Law Libraries are governed by provisions of the California Business and Professions Code 6300 et seq.

County law libraries are funded primarily with a portion of civil filing fees and generally do not receive any tax dollars. Library staff are not county employees but are supervised by a Board of Trustees. The Board meets the first Thursday of the month at 12:15. Everyone is invited to attend and comment.
